The Islamic Institute of Orange County’s College of Islamic Studies (CIS) constitutes a part-time and accredited program of study that is catered to Muslims living in the West. It draws on the wisdom and experience of Islamic institutions worldwide while taking into consideration the historical-critical approach to studying Islam taught at Western academic institutions. Influenced by Islamic institutions such as Al-Azhar University, the Islamic University of Madinah, Darul Uloom Deoband, Nadwatul Ulama, CIS also takes into consideration the approach and content of Islamic studies taught at Western and secular institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale, and Princeton Universities. CIS strives to provide the best and most practical way of studying Islam, while remaining within the paradigm of an Islamic worldview.
