CIS focuses on academic and educational development as well as spiritual and moral education. It prepares one to become an asset to the community at large by realizing that Islam is a holistic way of life manifested in all layers of society.
CIS has 3 academic tracks:

- 1-Year Certificate
- 2-Year Associates Degree
*specifics for the 1-Year and 2-Year Programs can be found in the Academic Outline.
While taking CIS courses, you may take them for
- Credit: You will be expected to complete assignments and take exams; you will receive a letter grade which will be on your CIS Transcript.
- No-Credit: You will NOT be expected to do any work outside of class and will not receive a grade for the course. This option is recommended for someone who is looking to take a course, but does not have the time/energy to study for it and does not want to receive credit for the course.
Through CIS, students may take as many of as few classes as they like, and can start and stop whenever they want. This enables a student to pursue an Islamic education without quitting his/her job or dropping out of school. Upon successful completion of the entire program, a student will receive a diploma certifying that they possess a sound grounding in the most essential Islamic sciences. Personal benefits of completing the program include, the ability for students to navigate through modern discourse on Islam and to impact the knowledge they have gained to others. An education with CIS will provide students with a foundation to filter un-Islamic ideas, as well as arm them with the necessary tools to spread Islam wherever they go .
